Merit reigns supreme in Punjab: Shehbaz Sharif
LAHORE, AUG 17 (DNA) – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has eliminated the 70 years old culture of recommendations and nepotism and has promoted merit in every sector.
He expressed these views while addressing the students going Turkey under a Turkish language scholarship programme at Model Town, on Thursday.
As much as 150,000 teachers are recruited purely on the merit in the province, the CM said. Similarly, the recruitment from constable to the officer level has been made on hundred per cent merit in the police department, he added.
The adoption of merit policy is a big service to the people of Punjab and strict action has been taken against the responsible persons if any complaint of violation of merit has been found anywhere, he added.
He said that the students going to Turkey are ambassadors of the country and they should bring laurels home with their exemplary performance and behaviour.
While addressing the students, the chief minister said that you are the bright stars who have been selected to learn the Turkish language from the University of Istanbul; you are expected to work hard because hard work is a key to success, he added. He said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy close, brotherly relations and both have been standing side by side in an hour of trail.
