Kashmir Black Day Observed In Canada
Ottawa, 28 October 2021 : Like Pakistan and elsewhere in the world, 27th October was observed in Canada as the Kashmir Black Day to condemn India’s illegal occupation of parts of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and commemorate countless sacrifices of the Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom.
The highlights of the day were public demonstrations held in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal as well as webinars, pictorial exhibitions and public gatherings arranged by various organisations to express support and solidarity for the Kashmiris and remind the world community of its duty of honouring its commitments made through various resolutions of the United Nations to ensure the right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan High Commission Canada also marked the Kashmir Black Day by arranging a pictorial exhibition and playing documentaries highlighting the background and significance of the Kashmir Black Day during a function arranged at the High Commission building in Ottawa. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan in connection with the Kashmir Black Day were also read out on the occasion. Office bearers and members of Kashmir Committee Ottawa also attended the event to show support and solidarity for the people of Kashmir.
In the evening, various ethnic and south Asian news channels ran special programmes and documentaries prepared in connection with the Kashmir Black Day. Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Abdul Hamid and Consul General of Montreal Mr. Ishtiaq Akil also appeared on local TV channels and highlighted the significance of the day and reassured the Kashmiris Pakistan’s abiding support to the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
