Fire breaks out in Karachi’s garment factory
KARACHI, DEC 02 (DNA) – A fire broke out on the third floor of a garment factory near Karachi’s site area in the wee hours of Friday.
According to details available with Geo News, as many as 18 fire tenders and five water bowsers are taking part in the fire-fighting operation at the factory near Naurus Chowrangi, while the blaze has been declared of ‘third degree’.
The power supply of the factory was immediately disconnected as the fire engulfed part of the building.
No one was present inside the factory, claimed fire-fighting officials, further adding that all the workers inside were evacuated safely.
The blaze on the third floor of the building has been doused, however, the operation was underway on the first and second floors.
Pakistan lacks safety measures for workers. In one of it deadliest factory fire in a Karachi’s Baldia area in 2012 over 250 people were burnt to death.=DNA
