Karachi: Death toll in rain-related mishaps reaches 16 in two days

KARACHI, AUG 23 (DNA) – The death toll in separate rain-related mishaps in Karachi has reached 16 in two days while dozens of locals are suffering from severe or minor injuries.
The recent spell of torrential rains has wreaked havoc in the city as rainwater flooded different parts of the city including the important thoroughfares.
The drains overflowed and a playing ground in Malir Model Colony was left in a dreadful condition. Karachiites said that although rain had broken the recent dry spell but incompetence of the administration had increased their problems.
On the other hand, yesterday’s rain has tripped more than 250 feeders of K-Electric, causing immense difficulties for the citizens.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the rain will continue to lash Karachi today as well.
