Indian girl commits suicide after death of her pet dog
BENGALURU, SEPT 01 (DNA) – Distraught over death of her pet dog, a girl in India committed suicide in one of the rare incidents of suicide.
The death of a pet dog ended in two back-to-back suicides of its distraught owner and her friend, in west Bengaluru couple of days ago.
The Indian media had earlier reported that the girl took the extreme step because she was harassed by her friend. Instead, it was later discovered that the youth was said to be overwhelmingly upset over the girl’s death.
Depressed over the death of her Pomeranian Jimmy, C Gamini, 19, allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling of her house at Ashwath Nagar here. A few hours later, her friend jumped in front of a train near Binny Mills.
Gamini, a single child, was a BCom student at the RPA College in the city. Her mother Vijayalakshmi is a teacher and father Chikkaswamy a driver, reports the Indian media.
Her mother told police, “Jimmy was with us for over four years and died of illness in July. Gamini changed a lot after Jimmy’s death and we did everything we could to make her happy. We even got her another dog last week and named him Jimmy.” However, Gamini couldn’t come out of depression and allegedly took the extreme step, she added.
