Indian cricketer arrested in Zimbabwe for allegedly raping woman
HARARE , 19 JUNE, (DNA) – An Indian cricket player who is in Zimbabwe for ongoing series has been arrested by police personnel for allegedly molesting woman, reported on Sunday. The incident has been confirmed by police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba.
He told the media that the mishap took place at Meikles hotel in Harare where the Indian national team is currently staying.
The spokesman said that the investigation was launched on the allegations leveled by a Zimbabwe woman. He said the culprit has been taken into custody while he would be appeared in the court today.
The identity of the player could not be ascertained by the time of going to press. It was also claimed that the victim could have been drugged before being raped by the player.
Earlier, India whitewashed Zimbabwe in the one-day international version, however, the visitors lost their opening T20 match yesterday by 2 runs. DNA
