ISLAMABAD, JAN 07, (DNA) – Interior Minister Chaud­hry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday termed India the biggest hurdle in the way of regional peace.

Talking to a three-member delegation of British and European parliaments here, he regretted that despite rendering invaluable sacrifice for global and regional peace, Pakistan had been made target of criticism by some elements that ignored historical and ground realities.

He said that besides those having superficial information and playing into the hands of others, the list of critics also included those whose hands were stained with the blood of oppressed people and who were a stumbling block in the way of sustained peace in the region.

The minister was of the opinion that the international community should not only open-heartedly listen to Pakistan’s viewpoint, but also understand it in its true perspective.

He said the United Kingdom was among a few countries where Pakistan’s point of view was heard and largely understood. He lauded the efforts of the UK for regional peace and assistance in strengthening institutions.

Relations between Pakistan and the UK, ongoing cooperation in various spheres, bilateral parliamentary affairs and the situation in the region with a particular reference to the Kashmir problem came under discussion during the meeting.

Chaudhry Nisar also appreciated the points raised in the British parliament about Kashmir and the Muslim world.

The delegation members, while appreciating the performance of the interior minister, pointed out that his efforts were also appreciated abroad, especially by the Pakistani community.

They said that the interior minister had played a key role in bringing down incidents of acts of terrorism in the country.

The delegation also praised his efforts for resolving the issues faced by Pakistani expatriates especially relating to passports and CNICs.

The delegation also acknowledged efforts of the interior minister towards blocking entry of any person to Pakistan without valid documents.

The visiting delegation comprised Lord Nazir Ahmad, Lord Qurban Hussain and European Parliament Member Afzal Khan.=DNA
