Imran vows to hold PM Nawaz accountable

ISLAMABAD, August 05 (DNA): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday addressed the media and discussed about the important developments being made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other issues.

He said that the provincial government introduced an effective accountability bill in KP, further stating that no politician would be able to take personal gains through his post from now onwards. Khan congratulated the KP government over the passing of recent acts and deemed them historic, adding that change in the province shall be evident as a result of the legislation.

Imran Khan criticised the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and stated that anyone pointing out towards corruption being done in the department shall be awarded 25% of the recovery. He said that the KP government also passed acts regarding universities and the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), adding that all rest-houses in KP along with the Chief Minister’s (CM) House shall now be administered by GDA.

He stated that the KP police was depoliticised for the first time, legally. He added that appointments in the police shall be made through the National Testing Service (NTS) and that no one shall be able to make appointments at their own will.

Khan said that corruption was responsible for the downfall of institutions in the country. He said that the reason behind initiating the movement aimed to end corruption was to put pressure upon the government and some important institutions so that they make take action against those involved in looting the country.

PTI Chairman said that a massive movement shall be launched on August 7 against corruption, adding that a public gathering shall be arranged at Rawalpindi on August 13 as well. He said that the anti-corruption campaign shall bear fruit.

While answering a question, he said that if he had done anything wrong, why didn t the government take action against him during the past three years. He further stated that the government wanted him to remain quiet over the Panama Leaks issue and that was why files against him were being opened.

He said that the government can take whatever action it wants to take against him, adding that the Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif feared being investigated as he knows that his involvement in corruption and money laundering shall be revealed as a result of the investigation. He stated that he shall not step back from protesting against the government s corruption.

Khan enquired that when he was not afraid of being investigated according to the Terms of References (TORs) made to cater the Panama Leaks issue, then is PM Nawaz fearing investigation.

PTI Chairman said that he backs the stance taken by Minister of the Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan during the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Conference. Khan said that Pakistan should maintain sound ties with all of its neighbours. DNA
