Imran Tahir signs BBL deal with Melbourne Renegades
Karachi : Pakistan-born South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has signed a Big Bash League (BBL) deal with the Melbourne Renegades.
The 41-year-old Tahir will be joined by Afghanistan’s 15-year-old Noor Ahmed. The left-arm ‘mystery spinner’ has played only one first-class match and 15 T20s. He represented his country as a 14-year-old in the Under 19 World Cup earlier this year.
According to Melbourne Renegades head coach, Michael Klinger said that Noor has been on the radar for more than a year.
“Noor is someone we have kept tabs on for over a year,” Klinger said in a statement.
“He’s someone who not many people have seen, which I think is a huge advantage to us, and he’s a player coming out on a mission to really put his name up in front of the world,” he added.
Tahir will join Renegades from Boxing Day, December 26. “I’ve watched the Big Bash from afar have admired how competitive it is,” Tahir said in a statement.
“I’m looking forward to joining my new Renegades teammates and working hard with them to produce a successful season,” he added.
It must be noted that Tahir has vast experience of T20 cricket. He has 380 wickets to his name in 303 matches.
