Imran suggests PM to step down
ISLAMABAD, May 21 (DNA): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has stated that the revelations made in the Panama Leaks are of global scope, further suggesting that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign until investigation of the matter is complete. While addressing a press conference, the PTI chief said that the Panama Leaks did not target any specific individual. He said that the Prime Minister of Iceland resigned as his wife was named in the Panama Papers whereas United Kingdom PM David Cameron had to present clarification in the country s parliament over the issue.
He said that PM Nawaz should have adopted an attitude similar to that of the UK PM as this would have been a simple way out for him.
Imran Khan said that the PM also presented wrong facts before the Election Commission. He further added that this is a wonderful opportunity for the country to do accountability against those involved in wrongdoings. He said that the matter would not have prolonged if PM Nawaz would have given answers to four questions.
He also mocked Jamiat Ulema-e-Insaf-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman by stating that he travels with PM Nawaz in his public gatherings and also makes announcements regarding inauguration of new airports with him as well. He said that the PM has been ruling the country for 30 years but has been unable to make a single hospital where he could get medical treatment.
The PTI chief said that the opposition s committee is formulating the Terms of References (TORs) of the commission that probes into the Panama Leaks issue, adding that the commission will be lead by Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court. He also said that the Bar Association and lawyers say should also be considered regarding the issue and that their TORs should also be included along with the other ones. DNA
