Imran Khan seeks action against Maryam Nawaz’s husband

ISLAMABAD, 12 MAY (DNA) – Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan on Thursday said that his party has filed a case in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against captain Safdar, husband of Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz, for concealing his wife assets.

In a tweet message, Imran Khan said “nation is now waiting to see ECP implementing its law.” It may be noted that Captain Safdar is a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and it is necessary for the member of NA to expose assets of his wife before the general elections.

“Our Prophet PBUH had warned that many nations had been destroyed when they had two sets of laws: one for the powerful & one for the weak,” he said in a series of tweets.  The PTI chief also rebuked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), saying why the body was not taking any move despite documentary evidence in Panama Papers.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced the formation of a commission to investigate allegations made in the Panama Papers that linked his family to a series of offshore companies.

The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposes how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.

Three of Sharif’s four children are named in the Panama Papers, daughter Maryam, who has been tipped to be his political successor, and sons Hasan and Hussain, with the records showing they owned London real estate through offshore companies administered by Mossack Fonseca. DNA
