Groundbreaking ceremony held for third Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital

KARACHI, DEC 29, (DNA) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the third Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in DHA City.
While addressing the ceremony Khan recalled how difficult it was for him when his mother was battling cancer and the expenses faced for treatment abroad. He shared how difficult it was to raise the funds for the first hospital and lauded the efforts of all those who helped realize that dream.
Khan recalled how according to him, the Punjab government tried to establish a cancer hospital in 1990 and failed; he added that they were bound to fail because the chief minister at the time was the incumbent prime minister.
The new hospital make it possible for the low-income patients across Sindh to seek comprehensive cancer care.
The foundation laying ceremony according to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which has organized the event will be done by a young pediatric patient.
Earlier when Imran Khan arrived in Karachi for his three-day visit, he was received by party leaders Faisal Vawda and MPA Khurram Sherzaman. Khan lauded Faisal Vawda’s efforts, according to sources.
During his visit the PTI Chairman is expected to visit late evangelist Junaid Jamshed’s residence to offer condolence as well. Over the next two days Imran Khan will also visit the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.=DNA
