KARACHI – Mian Anjum Nisar President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and office bearers inaugurated tree plantation drive under the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan with the view to increase forest cover throughout the country.

In a simple and impressive ceremony held at FPCCI Head office on 3^rd October 2020, Mian Anjum Nisar President FPCCI while inaugurating the ceremony highlighted the importance of the drive and informed that Pakistan is among the countries where forest areas had been severely destroyed resulting multiple environment and climate issues and challenges like global warming, depletion Mangroves ; increase in emission from deforestation and forest degradation; decrease in wildlife resources; watershed and social conservation problems in hilly and river catchment areas etc. according to global climate risk index, Prone to adverse climatic changes, Pakistan is ranked at fifth in the list of 10 most vulnerable countries to be severely affected by climate change, the implications of which are visible with the deadly floods in the monsoon season cause soil erosions, submerging towns and villages leading to the death of people adverse effect of smog.

Senior member, prominent businessmen, EC/GB members and Office Bearers also highlighted the need to preserve and improve the environment through forestation. The ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Sultan Rehman, Vice President, Mr. Amjad Rafi, Chairman, Pak-Turkey Business Council, Mr. Naser Hayat Maggo and Mr. Sohail Nisar Churra, Senior Members and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Tabish, Secretary General, FPCCI.
