At least eight killed as clouds of heavy fog engulf Punjab, Sindh

LAHORE, JAN 02, (DNA) – Patches of thick fog continue to disturb normal life activities in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh, as locals struggle to cope with road accidents and breathing issues even on Monday.
Road accidents have become frequent in Punjab because of fog during the last couple of days.
In Faisalabad, a tractor trolley overturned in a local neighbourhood amid poor visibility as a result of which at least two persons died.
Driving vehicles on motorways has become close to impossible. Motorway Police has also warned the civilians across the Punjab to avoid unnecessary travel, insisting that they must use fog lights to stay away from any untoward incidents.
Even on Monday, it was hard for drivers to pass through the motorway after visibility level dropped at several points particularly from Burhan Interchange to the city of Peshawar in the neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.
Officials at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore had to make changes in local and international flight schedules due to persistent fog.
Meanwhile, the situation was also not very different in Sindh with clouds of very small drops of water in the air and deadly mishaps on the roads.
At least six people were killed and scores were injured in Kandhkot, a city in Kashmore district of Sindh, when two coaches rammed into each other after one of the drivers lost control over his vehicle in fog.=DNA
