ISLAMABAD (dna News) – Finance Minister Asad Umar has asserted that 70 percent of affairs pertaining to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout package have been met.

In this regard, the finance minister is expected to meet the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde in Dubai on Sunday.

The economic team of Pakistan led by Asad Umar will try to persuade IMF representatives over certain measures taken by the country in order to limit fiscal deficit, raise tax revenue and implement economic reforms.

Finance ministry spokesperson Dr Khaqan Najib told the Dunya News that Pakistan has been engaged in talks with the IMF.

“Video conferencing with the IMF has been organized on weekly basis,” he said, adding that pressure of external debts has begun to reduce due to the recent policies and efforts taken by the government.

IMF chief Christine Lagarde has already arrived in Dubai to participate in the fourth Arab Economic Forum where the finance minister will holding a meeting with them.

Asad Umar along with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Maritime Affairs Minister Syed Ali Haider Zaidi and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood will have important meetings in Dubai.

The prime minister will address the 7th edition of the World Government Summit in Dubai today for highlighting his vision for a strong and prosperous Pakistan.
