Fakhar chairs meeting to accelerate wheat release for tapping inflation
ISLAMABAD, OCT 20 (DNA) – The provincial chief secretaries have committed to accelerate wheat release for tapping inflation. The commitment was made at an online consultative meeting chaired by Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam on Tuesday.
Punjab started its wheat release from 7th of July this year. The meeting was informed that the official release of wheat by the Punjab government has been increased from 16,000 tons per day to 20,000 tons per day.
In the next one or two days, it is being increased to 25,000 tons per day. The Chief Secretary Punjab said so far 196 Sahulat Bazaars have been set up to ensure supply of flour to the people at affordable rates.
The Chief Secretary Sindh said the process of regular release of wheat by the Sindh government will start in the next one or two days. Similarly, Khyber Pakhtukhwa started its wheat release from 7th of August.
The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa briefed the meeting in detail about the administrative measures taken to control the availability of wheat, including the establishment of a Sasta Bazaar. The meeting was informed that the official release of wheat by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will be increased from 3000 tonnes per day to 4000 tonnes per day. = DNA
