Germany has rejected a US-backed proposal to waive exclusive rights on Covid-19 vaccines.

In a statement, German government said that the protection of intellectual property is a source of innovation and must remain so.

Earlier, the European Union said it is ready to talk about the proposal, and some states have given it their full backing.
