Combaxx-Roshan Khan National Team Squash commences from today

ISLAMABAD: The prestigious Combaxx-Roshan Khan National Team Squash Championship will be kicks off from Today (Wednesday) being organized by Pakistan Navy in collaboration with Combaxx Sports at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, Karachi.

Sharing the silent features of the championship, the organizing secretary Lieutenant Commander Rahmatullah said that in the men’s event, seven teams from Pakistan Army, Navy, Wapda Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan will compete in the event adding that five teams from WAPDA, Army, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan will participate in the womens category.

He said that the final of the championship will be played on March 5th with colourful closing ceremony.

Former World Champion and squash legend Jahangir Khan, who was present on the occasion, said that it is important to continue the events in search of new talent in squash.

“Due to the elimination of departmental teams, the teams of a few institutions are not participating in the event, but the absence of the Air Force team in the event is surprising”, he added.

In response to a question, Jahangir Khan said that today’s players do not take proper advantage of the available facilities as hard work and proper use of facilities are necessary to becomes top squash player.

He said that Pakistan Squash Federation should act professionally as now nobody is asking the federation and few people are playing squash who are not related to this sport.

Omar Saeed, CEO of Combaxx Sports said that Jahangir Khan is a role model for squash players and we will continue our support to promote the sport and discover new talent so that our country can regain the lost glory of squash at the international level.

Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Zubair Macha of Combaxx Sports, Director of Event Tahir Jameel Khanzada and Championship Referee Naveed Alam were also present on this occasion.
