Cold waves, foggy weather persist in twin-cities

ISLAMABAD, 23 JAN (DNA) – Fog on Saturday continued engulfing Islamabad, Rawalpindi and various parts of Punjab however, the flight operation also got affected due to weather condition.
The severe wave of cold coupled with the fog and chilly winds made the conditions even more frigid. Citizens, cooped up in their homes to avoid the single digit temperatures, said a week has passed since they saw the sun.
The operation at Benazir Bhutto International Airport has also got affected as at least 35 flights faced delay while eight others were cancelled. Flight Inquiry department further advised the passengers to get complete information before coming to airport.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials said that the weather would be cold and dry in the coming 4-5 days while thick fog would remain blanket the parts of Punjab, Peshawar and upper Sindh.
Islamabad has witnessed 2 degree centigrade temperature however, -7 degree centigrade in Diamar and -13 degree centigrade recorded in Skkudu. On the other hand, gas load shedding was also seen in various areas where people were forced to make fire to stay warm during the extreme temperatures. DNA
