COAS visits NWA to review final phase of Shawal operation
NORTH WAZIRISTAN, 18 APR, (DNA) – Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited North Waziristan Agency on Monday and reviewed progress of the last phase of Zarbe-Azb Operation.
In a statement on social media, DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa said that the army chief was briefed in detail by commanders about operational gains.
“Since start of the last phase of operation, more than 800 sq kilometers of area has been secured,” he said.
Lauding successful completion of Shawal Operation, the COAS acknowledged exceptional achievements and emphasized on consolidating gains and resettle TDPs to the best of our abilities.
The army chief directed troops to undertake large-scale combing operation to seek out terrorists, sleeper cells and facilitators in area other than FATA and enhance LEAs’ reach.
Speaking to officers and men in Shawal, General Raheel Sharif said that standing shoulder to shoulder with us, the entire nation highly values the sacrifices being rendered by troops. =DNA
