British Pakistani surgeon racially abused after treating victims of Manchester bombing

MANCHESTER, MAY 30 (DNA) – Naveed Yasin a 37-year-old surgeon of Pakistani background was racially abused after he had helped save victims of the Manchester bombing.
Naveed Yasin was driving back to the hospital after spending two days in surgery helping save the victims of the Manchester attack when a middle-aged van driver pulled up beside him and hurled abuse.
Naveed Yasin was born in West Yorkshire and lives with his wife and two daughters in Manchester.
Naveed Yasin said: “I can’t take away the hatred he had for me because of my skin colour … and the prejudices he had associated with this. Manchester is better than this.”
According to Naveed Yasin, he and his colleagues felt working on victims of the Manchester attack was an “extremely profound and traumatising experience”.
British-born Salman Abedi, 22, who was known to security services, killed 22 people at a concert venue packed with children on Monday.
Authorities believe he had help in building the bomb which photographs published by the New York Times showed was sophisticated and powerful, and that his accomplices could be ready to strike again.=DNA
