Anti-measles campaign begins across country on Monday

 RAWALPINDI, Oct 14 (DNA): A two-week long anti-measles campaign begins in various parts of the country on Monday.

In district Rawalpindi, more than eight hundred seventy four thousand children from six months to seven years of age will be administered anti-measles injection during the campaign.

For this purpose eight hundred eighty four teams have been constituted.

In Sindh, the Health Department informed Radio Pakistan Karachi that some 7.3 million children between the ages of nine months to five years would be vaccinated against the disease during the campaign.

The official said all 29 districts and 1123 union councils of Sindh will be covered during this campaign. A special two week anti-measles campaign begins across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

According to Director EPI Muhammad Akram Shah, about four point eight million children from nine months to five years of age will be vaccinated against the disease.

Twelve day injectable anti-measles drive will also start in Balochistan on Monday.

Deputy Coordinator Provincial EPI Balochistan Dr. Ishaq told our correspondent Aftab Sherazi on Sunday that during the drive more than 2.14 million children from the age of nine month up to five years would be administered anti measles injectable vaccines.

Moreover, 2417 vaccinators riding motorcycles would administered vaccination against the disease in remote areas of the province.

Governor Balochistan Justice Retd Amanullah Khan Yasinzai would formally inaugurate the drive through administering injectable vaccination to a few children at Governor House in Quetta on Monday.

In Gilgit Baltistan, twelve day long national campaign against measles will continue till 27th of this month.

During the campaign over one lac ninety eight thousand children from nine month to five years would be given anti measles vaccine.
