FIA arrests Auqaf official in Rs.170m corruption case
LAHORE, Apr 01: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has arrested a deputy secretary of the Auqaf and Waqf Properties Board over alleged corruption of Rs170 million, officials said on Wednesday.
The suspect was identified as Akram was accused of receiving bribes in exchange for leasing around 200 plots to a private individual.
Authorities said that he also obtained a 751-square-yard plot as part of the alleged illegal benefits.
FIA officials said the accused allegedly used a fake seal deed to conceal the corruption.
The arrest was made by the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore and further investigations was underway to identify other individuals involved in the case,officials added.
