Aircraft of newly launched airliner meets accident at Islamabad airport
ISLAMABAD, FEB 07, (DNA) – A jet of newly launched domestic airline, Serene Air was grounded after meeting an accident at Islamabad’s Benazir International Airport.
The accident happened as the Boeing 737-800 jet arrived in the capital from Karachi.
The vehicle of Islamabad Ground Crew (Royal Airport Services) rammed into the jet worth $50 million and damaged it.
According to airport sources, the plane was being towed when the tow pin broke and the jet fall onto the tow van. They said that the plane has been grounded for repair purpose.
Serene Air began its flight operations on January 29 and has three aircrafts in its convoy.
At least four flights were cancelled today whereas several others are facing delay.
Flight ER-540 enroute to Quetta from Karachi is delayed by 11 hours and 15 minutes.
It had to take off at 7:15 am but now the flight will likely depart at 6:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the flight from Quetta to Karachi is also deferred by six hours and 15 minutes.
The arrival of the flight ER-541 will now be likely after 10:00 pm instead of 3:45 pm.=DNA
