Agricultural high-tech Fair begins, smart farming to be hot topic under CPEC
BEIJING, Oct 23 (DNA): The 28th China Yangling Agricultural high-tech Fair, jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas, the Ministry of Commerce, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, the State Intellectual Property Office and the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government in China began in Yangling, Shaanxi Province.
According to China Economic Net (CEN), the Fair will last for five days (October 22-26). With the theme of “Scientific and Technological Innovation Boosting Rural Revitalization”, this year’s High-tech Fair will focus on ensuring national food security, supporting high-quality agricultural development and promoting innovation driven Rural Revitalization Strategy.
More then 10 agriculture related districts, counties and development zones, 150 rural collective economic organizations and 130 agricultural science and technology enterprises participated in the fair.
“I have been following the fair for 6 years, and I am really impressed with the progress of agricultural development made by the Chinese people.” Pakistani student Jin Letian, told the CEN.
“I came to the Fair to find innovative methods to increase crop yields for Pakistani farmers, since data suggests that the yields of wheat, sugarcane, maize and other crops have risen throughout years in China,” Jin told, “I have been told that organic fertilizer is one key reason behind the rise of yields.
Moreover, the concept of ‘Smart farming’ contributed a lot. Chinese farmers are using modern information and communication technologies to manage their farms, which means, with the help of sensor technologies, data analytic solutions, software applications and telematics technologies, Chinese farmers now can monitor field conditions without even going to the field and make strategic decisions for the whole farm or for a single plant.
I think in the future, Pakistan and China will have more cooperation in that aspect under the framework of CPEC.”
Jin Letian spent 7 years in China, participating in China’s poverty alleviation at the grass-roots level and visited many test fields in Shaanxi Province, China.
He added, that under the framework of CPEC, academic exchanges, Expos and forums enable a closer observation for Pakistani researchers on China’s agricultural development. In the future, he hopes to bring back more advanced agriculture solutions to Pakistan.
