Amjad Saleemi appointed as Punjab IGP: ECP suspends notification
LAHORE, (DNA) – Amjad Javed Saleemi has been appointed the Inspector General Punjab Police.
A notification to this effect has been issued by the establishment division. ECP however has suspended the notification saying there is ban on transfers, postings before by elections.
Saleemi replaces Tahir Khan who was appointed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and served as the Punjab IGP for a period of one month and two days only.
The newly-appointed IGP Punjab has earlier served as Sindh police chief.
Saleemi who hails from Faisalabad joined the civil services on November 1, 1986, and belongs to the 14th Common division.
He was previously a grade 22 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, serving as IG National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP).
Saleemi’s retirement is due on January 31, 2020.
