ISLAMABAD, NOV 14, (DNA): Pakistanis will be able to witness the spectacle known as the ‘Supermoon’ today after dark, as the moon will be making its closest approach towards planet Earth since 1948.

It doesn’t get any bigger or better than this. The ‘Supermoon’ will be visible to Pakistanis tonight after dark.

According to European media, the moon will appear 14% larger than normal and about 30% brighter than usual.

Observers should seek out the opportunity and witness the Supermoon since the spectacle is expected to be witnessed 18 years later next, in 2034.

“The difference in distance from one night to the next will be very subtle, so if it’s cloudy on Sunday, go out on Monday. Any time after sunset should be fine,

” Noah Petro, deputy project scientist for NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, said in a statement.

The UK’s best chance to see it will be on Monday evening, although the Moon reaches its closest approach at 11:21 GMT when it will be 356,509 km away.

To observers, it will appear about 7% larger than normal and about 15% brighter – although the human eye is barely able to discern that difference.

Yet the Moon won’t be this close again until 25 November 2034.=DNA
