Australia, Pakistan joint venture in health care sector
ISLAMABAD, NOV 07 (DNA) – The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson has witnessed the signing of an Australian business venture with a Pakistani company which will assist Pakistan’s growing health care sector.
Australian skills training provider Talisman Healthcare has signed an agreement with the Superior University Lahore to provide training to Pakistani nurses.
The Talisman Healthcare – Superior University Lahore agreement will see trained nurses receive an internationally-recognised certificate of Nursing Pre-Placement Course (NPPC) which will assist them in seeking international employment. Talisman Healthcare expects to require between 500 to 1000 nurses and technicians each year for international jobs including in the Middle East.
High Commissioner Adamson welcomed the business venture and noted the potential for Australian businesses to engage in Pakistan particularly in the services sector.
“There is significant demand for skill based training in Pakistan that meets international standards. Australian education and training providers enjoy a very positive reputation in Pakistan and around the world. We also see further business opportunities in agribusiness, especially in the dairy, food and beverage industries, and in the energy and education sectors,” Ms Adamson.
As part of the arrangement, Talisman will provide curriculum development, an online learning platform and academic support for the 12 week Nursing Pre-Placement Course. Australian trainers and assessors will conduct final assessments of students for quality assurance. Talisman will also support job offers and employment contracts for nurses.=DNA
