No price hike in country: Dar rejects opposition claim
ISLAMABAD, 17 JUNE (DNA) – Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar told National Assembly on Firday that due to government’s prudent policies and good performance for the last three years the inflation has come down to less than three percent and the prices are stable.
Dar said that, opposition’s criticism that there is price hike is against the facts.
The Minister said that, 86 recommendations of the Senate have been accepted totally, principally or partially out of total 139 recommendations.
He said fiscal deficit has brought down to 4.3 per cent from 8.2 per cent during the last three years and it will be decreased to 3.8 percent in the next financial year.
The National Assembly is holding general discussion and consideration of the recommendations made by the Senate of Pakistan.
Taking part in the debate, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho appreciated the Senate for giving valuable recommendations on the budget for the year 2016-17. She said Parliament should be actively involved in the budget process.
Muhammad Pervaiz Malik said according to recommendations of the Senate, ex-cadre government employees should also be upgraded just like the normal cadre employees.
Dr Amjad Niazi said solar tubewells facility will be given to farmers throughout the country for development of the agriculture sector.
Naeema Kishwar Khan said Senate’s recommendation for fifteen percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees should be accepted.
Shazia Marri emphasized that Senate recommendations with reference to Balochistan and FATA should be accepted.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao while appreciating the Senate recommendations on budget demanded that customs act should be abolished from Malakand division keeping in view the sacrifices of the people of the area against terrorism.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the government should work on war footings for provision of solar tubewells for farmers in Balochistan.
Shah Jee Gul Afridi demanded development package for FATA.
Usman Khan Tarakai endorsed the recommendations given by the Upper House. DNA
