President for providing skills, vocational training to PWDs
KARACHI, Jan 02 (DNA): President Dr Arif Alvi has said that steps are underway to bring differently abled people (DAPs) into the mainstream society by providing them necessary technical skills and capacity building to make them employable in the market.
He said that we needed to adopt a rights based approach instead of
charity based approach for PWDs. The President gave these remarks while
talking to members of the Sindh Business Chambers in a meeting today.
The President said that industries producing raw materials for the
export industries also needed to be enlisted, so that they could also be
provided sufficient supply of energy on priority basis. The LNG mix
should also be used until the issue of gas supply is addressed, he
remarked.
He also highlighted the need for coordination with training centers to
provide necessary skills to PWDs and enabling them for employment
opportunities in different sectors of industry.
The President was informed that Karachi Association of Trade & Industry
KATI was collaborating with the HUNAR Foundation for designing special
technical courses for the differently abled persons to make them
suitable for job.
The first Lady Mrs. Samina Arif, on the occasion, said that she would
also visit different chambers of commerce and industry in this regard.

Mr. Saleem-uz-zaman president KATI, Mr. Abdul Hadi president SITE and
