River flows, flash flood risk rise across Pakistan: NDMA
ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: /DNA/ – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Saturday warned of rising water flows in major rivers and the risk of low to moderate-level flooding across several parts of the country on August 8-9, as its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) reviewed river flows, reservoir levels and emerging monsoon risks and directed local administrations to pre-position resources and keep evacuation arrangements ready in vulnerable areas. Ship struck by ‘unknown projectile’ in Hormuz: British maritime agency
LONDON, AUG 8: A ship was hit by a projectile off Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire that was extinguished but no casualties, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). “A verified source has reported that a vessel was struck by an unknown projectile which caused a fire that has been extinguished. There is no reported environmental impact. The vessel and crew are reported as safe,” it said.
