Pakpattan land case: Notices to 8,000 people including Nawaz Sharif issued
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Supreme Court on Tuesday has issued notices to 8,000 people including then Chief Minister of Punjab Nawaz Sharif in a three-decade old case regarding illegal construction of shops on shrine land in Pakpattan. During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and defence lawyer Iftekhar Gillani exchanged harsh words. The top judge questioned, “Under which law, the shops were built on the shrine land?” The defence lawyer said that it’s inappropriate that the court is declaring the notification unconstitutional after passage of 29 years.Read More
