Pakistan, Afghanistan agree to expand bilateral trade

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (DNA): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Afghan Ambassador Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal discussed current profile of Pak-Afghan economic cooperationDuring their meeting in Islamabad on Saturday, they discussed steps   with particular emphasis on promotion of trade and developing communication linkages between the two countries. The Minister welcomed the newly appointed Afghan Ambassador  and felicitated him on assuming his responsibilities.


PM announces compensation package for PIA employees

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (DNA): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has announced financial assistance of Rs. 2.5 million each for the heirs of the families of two deceased PIA employees.These employees were killed during a firing incident outside Karachi airport. The Prime Minister stated that loss of life of these PIA employees is not only a loss for their families and friends but also for the national carrier.


Romania, Pakistan have a lot in common, says ambassador

LAHORE, FEB 13 (DNA) – Ambassador of Romania Emilian ION has said his country greatly valued relations with Pakistan adding both countries have a lot in common. Pakistani Hindus show concerns on controversial clause of Hindu Marriage Act

CTD arrests nine militants of banned outfits

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested on Friday nine militants linked with the banned Sipah-i-Sahba Pakistan (SSP), Sipah-i-Muhammad Pakistan and Daesh. A CTD spokesman said in the first raid Qari Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Younus were arrested in Madressah Noorul Huda, sector A-2 of Township. They belong to the banned Islamic State (IS or Daesh). Parliament shifts to solar energy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s parliament is now the first parliament in the world to be completely powered by solar energy. Members of the National Assembly met for the first time while the lower house was being powered by solar power on Friday. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced that the solar panels in the house generate 80 MW of electricity, 62 MW of which are consumed by the National Assembly and 18 MW are contributed to the national grid.
