Govt gives top priority to reduce cost of agriculture outputs: PM

LODHRAN, Nov 06 (DNA): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the government gives top priority to reduce cost of agriculture outputs.He was addressing a function in connection with the cheques distribution among the small farmers under the Prime Minister’s Kissan Package.The Prime Minister said the government has announced Kissan Package worth 341 billion rupees unprecedented in the history of the country.He said those who claimed love for the farmers have caused delay in the implementation of the package.


Pak Army professional competence acknowledged globally: COAS

RAWALPINDI, Nov 06 (DNA): Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif Friday said that overwhelming achievements in fight against terrorism, speak volumes of the professional competence and same has been acknowledged globally.Terming Pakistan Army as the most battle hardened army, “We have to strive hard to maintain that level and keep improving our combat efficiency and that is only possible through rigorous training,” he made these remarks while witnessing the concluding ceremony of third physical Agility and Combat Efficiency Championship held near Attock.


Japan to provide Hybrid vehicles worth Rs 435 mlm to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, NOV 06 (DNA) – Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, handed over hybrid vehicles to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) on Friday. These hybrid vehicles were manufactured by Japanese company using more efficient cutting edge technology. The Government of Japan will provide in total 123 vehicles to MOI and National Highways and Motorway Police. Total cost for the provision of the vehicles is around 500 million Japanese Yen, an equivalent of PRs. 435 million.


Ayaz Sadiq, three other elected MNAs sworn in

ISLAMABAD, Nov 06 (DNA): National Assembly (NA) former speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Friday was sworn in as Member of National Assembly (MNA) among four elected members. Sadiq was sworn in among Riazul Haq Juj, Babar Nawaz Khan and Dr Shazia Soomro while five are yet to be administered. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is also returning to the Parliament after 85 days since it handed in its resignations on the 12th of August. MQM has decided to take back resignations from Sindh Assembly as well.


USAID agri-business project helped 27,000 farmers transition

ISLAMABAD, NOV 06 (DNA) – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) held a ceremony Friday showcasing a successful agricultural program that shared modern techniques with 27,000 farmers and helped to increase agricultural exports by $34 million. USAID’s Agribusiness Project worked with both small farmers and larger producers to increase productivity and quality while reaching new domestic and international markets.
