Electricity problem cannot be solved by standing on containers: PM Nawaz

EIKHUPURA, Oct 09 (DNA): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Bakhi power plant on Friday which will provide up to 1080 Megawatt of electricity.The Prime Minister said that he had never committed to eradication of electricity in a time frame of 6 months.“When did I say that I would end the energy crisis in 6 months. I never gave any such deadline,” Prime Minister Sharif. He said that electricity shortage problem cannot be solved by standing on containers alone.


MQM announces to withdraw resignations from assemblies

ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (DNA): The government has finally succeeded inconvincing disgruntled Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) to withdraw itsresignations from assemblies.The announcement to this effect was made during a joint pressconference by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and MQM leader Farooq Sattar.Dar announced formation of grievances redressal committee to address concerns of the MQM. Pakistan summons Indian diplomat over train service disruption

ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (DNA): Pakistan on Friday summoned a senior Indiandiplomat to convey concern over cancellation of a cross-border train service, officials said. The Delhi-bound “Samjhota Express,” carrying both Indian and Pakistani passengers, was called back from the Wagah border on Thursday after Indian authorities informed Pakistani officials of unruly farmers protest on the Indian side of the border. Indian farmers were holding demonstration to press for demands for compensation in view of destruction of their cotton crop, according to Indian media.


Nawaz Sharif accepted bribe to topple PPP govt: Imran Khan

Hekmatyar gives peace formula for Afghan stability

  LAHORE: Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan chief Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has proposed intra-Afghan talks, “without mediation from any foreign power”.In a written interview, he also gave a formula for peace in his war-ravaged country, an end to war across the country being an important component of it. If any group tries to continue war on being incited, all other parties should try to address its reservations and persuade it to bury the hatchet. But if it doesn’t, the entire nation should fight against it, said the former prime minister of Afghanistan.
