World Environment Day celebrated at Iqra University
Karachi, JUN 8 /DNA/ – Iqra University has celebrated the UN World Environment Day, showcasing students’ projects and highlighting Iqra University’s commitment to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated worldwide. The theme of World Environment Day 2022, #OnlyOneEarth, was also used at the first global environment gathering in 1972.
UN World Environment Day was celebrated, participated in, and applauded by thousands of Iqra University students, faculty members, and staff for raising awareness and advocacy.
In his speech, Dr. Shams Hamid, Dean of social sciences at Iqra University, shared Iqra University’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. He said our university is redesigning our curriculum, teaching methodologies, assessment methods, and university policies to participate in the collective efforts of nations, regions, and the world to overcome the great environmental challenges the world is facing today because of human activities.
Dr. Ali Raza, the Director of Iqra University’s North Campus, also expressed Iqra University’s commitment to sustainable development. Dr. Ali Raza appreciated Ethics and Social responsibility course students’ efforts and asked them to continue their community work to improve the lives of the marginalized communities.
Students had organized multiple infotainment activities, including Ethics and Social Responsibility and Introduction to Futures Studies students’ projects, laughter yoga, an open mic session, and a musical concert.
