ISLAMABAD, JUL 14 /DNA/ – In a vibrant celebration of the FIFA World Cup spirit and a testament to the unifying power of sports, two exhibition football matches were held at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad. The event brought together the Diplomatic Team and the Pakistan Veterans Team in a friendly yet competitive showcase of football, friendship, and cultural exchange.

Organized by Mr. Mubasher Sanjrani, a former international footballer and Chairman of the Islamabad Veterans Football Association, the event saw the Diplomatic Team field players representing more than 24 different nationalities. In contrast, the Pakistan Veterans Team featured experienced former professional footballers from Islamabad.

The matches were not only a display of athletic prowess but also a celebration of international goodwill. The Diplomatic Team clinched the opening match with an impressive 3–1 victory, while the Pakistan Veterans Team responded with a 5–3 win in the second match, keeping the crowd engaged throughout.

Adding to the excitement, both matches were played using the original FIFA Trionda World Cup football, proudly manufactured in Pakistan. This highlighted the country’s significant contribution to the global football community and its reputation for producing world-class sports equipment.

The event witnessed distinguished participation, including H.E. Mr. Paulo Domingues, Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, Mr. Eduard Preda, Romanian DHM, and several other diplomats who actively took to the field. Their participation underscored a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation through sports.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Nawabzada Jamal Raisani, also played for the Pakistan Veterans Team.
