WAF Peshawar is steadfast in its commitment to upholding democratic process

PESHAWAR, APR 2: Amidst the current tumultuous political landscape and constitutional stalemate, WAF Peshawar is steadfast in its commitment to upholding and fortifying the democratic process. In light of the recent political impasse, WAF Lahore members united in their efforts to rally political party leaders to convene an All Parties Conference (APC), recognizing that the current crisis poses a grave threat to the democratic values of our political system.
As civil society organizations in Lahore implored the participation of JAC and WAF Lahore, Ms. Khawar Mumtaz, with the approval of the WAF Working Committee, joined the delegation to address the pressing matter at hand swiftly. While time constraints precluded consultation with all provincial Coordinators, members from regional chapters acknowledged the significance of the initiative. They agreed that each chapter should call their meeting to discuss and express their consent.
In this regard, WAF Peshawar convened an online meeting on March 25th, 2023, and unanimously agreed to endorse the initiative. Recognizing the deleterious consequences of the ongoing political crisis across the political spectrum, WAF Peshawar is resolute in its commitment to facilitate meetings with political party leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to urge them to convene an All Parties Conference to resolve the current crisis and safeguard the democratic process and values we hold dear.
