Uzbek embassy organizes fashion show in the Capital
ISLAMABAD, FEB 29 (DNA) –Embassy of Uzbekistan in collaboration with Iqra University organized a fashion show “Encounter Culture Vol.ll,” featuring Uzbek Designers collection.
The fashion show provided the people of Islamabad with an opportunity of getting firsthand knowledge about various Uzbek traditional dresses.
The audiences lauded splendid work done by the fashion designers both from Pakistan and Uzbekistan and admired students of the Iqra University for befittingly showcasing these products.
CEO Serena Mr Aziz Boolani and a large number of people hailing from various walks of life witnessed the fashion show. It was second show of this sort organized by the Uzbek embassy. First lady Mrs. Samina Alvi was the chief guest.
First lady Mrs Samina Arif Alvi while speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan have common history, culture and values. We enjoy very strong relations in cultural sector. We can promote our cultures through fashion that has universal appeal. Culture and Fashion are breaking barriers and bridging gaps among the nations.
She said that that in globalized world the fashion is important tool to increase people to people contacts. She said that Pakistan is multi cultured country. We have diversity of cultures. Moghals from Uzbekistan ruled sub continent for centuries. They introduced the culture, cuisine, art and craft of Central Asia to this region. This is a unique common factor among Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
She congratulated the organizers of the fashion show for hosting the event.
Ambassador of Uzbeksitan Furqat Sidikov in his remarks said ever since his arrival in Pakistan as ambassador he was trying to promote people to people and cultural links between the two countries.
The fashion show and all such events organized by the embassy in collaboration with its Pakistani partners was a clear manifestation of our strong and earnest desire to promote and deepen bilateral relations.=DNA
