US President calls for focusing on new threats from Africa, Middle East and China
US President Joe Biden has defended his decision to end the country’s two-decade war in Afghanistan.
Addressing the nation in connection with the final US pull-out from Afghanistan, Joe Biden said he believes it as a right and best decision for America and we will no longer fight a war that should have ended long ago.
Citing high costs of conflict in Afghanistan, including death of 2461 US troops and daily expenditure of 300 million dollars, he emphasized to focus on new threats, including terrorist threats from Africa and Middle East and economic threats from China.
Biden said that the former President Donald Trump had cut a deal to pull US troops out of Afghanistan.
He said the United States has achieved its targets in Afghanistan and now, it is time to leave the country.
He stressed to ensure that soil of Afghanistan can never again be used for an attack on the United States.
