UK Media XI face Pakistan XI in friendly match in North Waziristan
MIRANSHAH, SEPT 21 (DNA) – In a friendly match between UK Media XI and Pakistan XI being held on Thursday, the former won the toss and opted to field. The match is being held as part of the Peace Cup series organized by the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi.
The match is being held in the Younis Khan Stadium in Miranshah.
Participating players include Inzamam ul Haq, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal, Junaid Khan, Umer Gul, Mushtaq Ahmed, Riaz Afridi and Wajhatullah Wasti represent the Pakistan side, while UK Media XI is an eighteen member team consisting of journalists, lawyers, businessmen and academics aged between 21-62.
The match is a part of wider efforts being undertaken to promote a softer image of Pakistan and to promote peace efforts in the country.
Peshawar Zalmi chairman Javed Afridi tweeted earlier, “Welcome to the Peace Land.”Major General Asif Ghafoor, the Director General of ISPR, had announced today’s match on Wednesday.
