UAE to open a new visa office in Pakistan

KARACHI, (DNA) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to open its new visa office in Karachi in the upcoming months. The purpose of this office is to facilitate all immigration and travel related issues which include renewal of residence and work permits for Pakistanis traveling to the UAE.

This news was disclosed by the Consulate-General of the United Arab Emirates in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al Romaithi, in a meeting between Pakistan and UAE council presided over by Dr. Mirza Iftikhar Baig.

Dr. Mirza also discussed possible export options between Pakistan and UAE since the bilateral trade between both nations currently stands at $8.3 billion. Out of the total trade amount, Pakistan only exports close to $870 million whereas UAE is responsible for the rest of it.

He put forth a proposal which suggested that Pakistan should export rice and sugar to cooperative stores in the UAE to help boost the exports of the country. He also asked for assistance and cooperation from UAE’s respective authorities to formalize the plan.

During the meeting, it was also disclosed that a potential Abu Dhabi infrastructure fund is interested in investing in clean and renewable energy projects in Pakistan. Dr. Baig took notice of it and has decided to hold a separate meeting to discuss details of it.

Lastly, Dr. Baig discussed the participation in the Expo 2020, which will be held on October 20, 2020. The purpose of it will be to promote Pakistan’s tourism values on the international stage.
