Two ASWJ men gunned down in Karachi target killing: police

KARACHI: Two clerics associated with a banned outfit were gunned down at a seminary in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area on Tuesday in an incident of target killing, police said.
Iqra Darul Atfal seminary administrator Mufti Ghulam Akbar and his guest Mufti Kamran were shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at the seminary in Gulshan block 6, Superintendent Police (SP) Gulshan Farhad Ahmad told media.
Mufti Kamran died on the spot, whereas Mufti Akbar succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital, the SP said, adding that the deceased were said to be associated with the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) and a sectarian motive could not be ruled out.
Initial reports suggest the attackers used 9mm pistols. Further investigations are underway.
