Traders protest against TMA anit- encroachment drive

RAWALPINDI, 09 JAN (DNA) – Traders and vendors shopkeepers on Saturday took to the streets against the local government’s operation against illegal encroachments in Rawalpindi.
The businessmen staged protest as the staffers of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) reached Raja Bazar. The incident worsened after an exchange of harsh words took place between traders and the members of TMA.
The protesters burned tyres and chanted slogans against the district government and urged to resolve the matter as early as possible.
They said that TMA employees irked them in the name of illicit encroachments operation despite grabbing monthly extortion money.
The event badly disrupted the flow of traffic at Committee Bazar and Raja Bazar. However, police personnel while arriving at the scene dispersed the protesters.
Earlier, Sector G-10 market of Islamabad turned into the war zone on Friday as the City Development Authority (CDA) started an operation against encroachments.
The shopkeepers of the area started throwing stones on the team of CDA as they started the operation against encroachments in G- 10 Market.
Talking to media, the traders said that they were not given any pre-operation notice from CDA and the operation started without any warning. DNA
