Three of 8 Indian High Commission officials expelled from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, November 08 (DNA): Three of eight Indian diplomats, who were declared persona non grata by Pakistan over their involvement in espionage and subversive activities in the country, left for New Delhi on Tuesday.

 

The three Indian officials, who were functioning at Indian High Commission based in Islamabad, left for India via Dubai on board a flight of an international airline from Benazir Bhutto Airport earlier this morning.

 

These Indian diplomats are First Secretary commercial Anurag Singh, Vijay Kumar Varma, and Mandhawan Nanda Kumar.

 

Pakistan ordered to expel Indian High Commission officials, who were found out to be working as undercover operatives of Indian intelligence agency, RAW.

 

Remaining five officials of Indian High Commission will leave for their country via Wagah Border. The Indian officials could not be detained due to diplomatic immunity’ granted to them under the Vienna Convention.

 

It should be mentioned here that Pakistan’s Foreign Office earlier on November 3 revealed that eight Indian diplomats and staff belonging to the Indian intelligence agencies RAW and Intelligence Bureau have been found involved in subversive activities in Pakistan under the garb of diplomatic assignments.

 

This was stated by Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

 

He said these include RAW’s operatives Rajesh Kumar Agnihotri, Commercial Counsellor, Anurag Singh 1st Commercial Secretary, Amerdeep Singh Bhatti Visa Attache, Dharmendra Sodhi, Staff Members Vijay Kumar Verma and Madhavan Nanda Kumar.

 

Indian IB’s operatives are: Balbir Singh, 1st Press and Information Secretary, and Jayabalan Senthil, Assistant Personnel Welfare Officer.

 

The Spokesman said Surjeet Singh who was declared Persona non-grata a few days back was also an IB operative working under Balbir Singh.

 

He said activities of these operatives included espionage, subversion and supporting of terrorist activities in Balochistan and Sindh, especially Karachi, sabotage CPEC, and fuel instability in the two provinces and create unrest in GB. =DNA
