Sohail Mahmood appointed as new HC to India
ISLAMABAD, MAY 10, (DNA) – Senior diplomat Suhail Mehmood has been appointed as new High Commissioner (HC) of Pakistan to India and he will assume his diplomatic responsibilities by the end of this month.
According to foreign office sources, Sohail Mahmood is serving as Pakistan ambassador to Turkey and he will replace incumbent Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit in India by the end of this month.
Indian High Commission in Islamabad has issued a visa to Sohail Mahmood in this regard. He had discharged his responsibilities in Pakistan diplomatic mission in Washington, New York, Ankara and Bangkok.
It is vital to mention here that Sohail Mahmood is taking charge of his office as high commissioner of Pakistan in India at the time when bilateral ties between both the countries are tense. His predecessor Abdul Basit was appointed as high commissioner to New Delhi in 2014.=DNA
