Sherali Jononov presents credentials to Sri Lanka President

COLOMBO, NOV 18 (DNA) – Ambassador of Tajikistan to Sri Lanaka Sherali Jononov presented his credentials to President of Sri Lanka during an impressive ceremony the other day.

Ambassador Sherali is Tajikistan’s ambassador to Pakistan also. He will look after Sri Lanka while being based in Islamabad.

On November 14, 2016 the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Jononov Sherali presented credentials to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Pallewatte Gamaralalage Maithripala Yapa Sirisena.

After the ceremony the President of Sri Lanka had a meeting with Ambassador of Tajikistan. Ambassador  conveyed to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena the main points of the foreign policy of the  Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon regarding this country.

The sides also discussed the development of bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in various spheres.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoy cordial relations. CASA 1000 energy project is in final stages and after completion it will cater to Pakistan’s energy needs.

Both Pakistan and Tajikistan share common views on various regional and global issues. Pakistan is indebted to Tajikistan for its wholehearted support for SCO membership.

Leaders of both countries have committed to take these bilateral relations to new heights. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Tajikistan on a couple of occasion while the Tajik president also came to Pakistan to further cement these relations. DNA
