Sheikh Rasheed says he knows name of next PM but would not disclose
ISLAMABAD, 16 MAY (DNA) – Ahead of National Assembly’s crucial session today (Monday), outspoken leader of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has claimed that he knows who will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan but he won’t disclose it at the moment.
Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Sheikh Rashid said that a ‘forward group’ has been formed within the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN). He suggested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down from his post in order to save democracy and the assembly. “The assembly belongs to 200 million people, not those named in Panama Leaks,” he added.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that opposition has presented seven questions to NA Speaker for the Prime Minister. He said that there is no threat to democracy but the government should not mislead the public. Qureshi further stated that the only danger to democracy is ‘corruption.’
The remarks came on the day when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to give a policy statement on the issue of Panama leaks in the National Assembly. The Prime Minister is likely to announce some necessary steps to ensure transparent probe into the leaks that also include the names of leaders mainly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.DNA
