Shehbaz to preside over first PAC meeting today
ISLAMABAD, DEC 28 (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif will preside over the first Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting in Islamabad on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday the National Assembly Secretariat on Thursday issued the production order for Leader of the Opposition in NA Shehbaz Sharif.
The development came following the approval of NA speaker Asad Qaiser. NA Deputy Speaker Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri issued the orders which enables Sharif to head the PAC meetings.
The orders have been issued for December 28, 31, and January 1.
Copies of the order have also been forwarded to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, the NAB director general, Kot Lakhpat jail’s officials and other relevant authorities.
As per the production order, Shehbaz presence as the PAC chairman is compulsory in the meeting. The first PAC meeting is scheduled to be held today at 3pm at the Parliament House.
The PAC is the apex parliamentary watchdog that oversees the audit of revenue and expenditure by the government and it is considered to be the most powerful and important committee of parliament.
Shehbaz Sharif is in the judicial remand of NAB for facing charges in the Ashiyana-i-Iqbal Housing scheme case.
