Shehbaz Sharif attends funeral prayers of Abdul Sattar Edhi

Shahbaz files Rs26bln defamation suit against Imran

LAHORE, 09 JULY (DNA) – Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended funeral prayers of renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi in Karachi, on Saturday.

He represented Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. On the occasion, the Chief Minister embraced Abdul Sattar Edhi’s son Faisal Edhi, consoled with him, and said that his father was the identity and an asset of Pakistan.

He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi laid the foundation of public service and wrote a new chapter by serving the humanity throughout his life. Shehbaz Sharif prayed for his success in forwarding the mission of service to humanity of his father.

Talking to media-men, the Chief Minister said that he always got inspiration from the personality of Abdul Sattar Edhi. He said that Edhi has taught him help, stand with the poor, and lead a simple life. Shehbaz Sharif said that he has learnt value of time and its best use from Abdul Sattar Edhi. He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi is hero of the nation and he got this award due to service to the humanity.

He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was known for sincerity, honesty, love for humanity and commitment. He said that we talk of change but it does not come through speeches rather hard work is required for it and Abdul Sattar Edhi has done this task. The Chief Minister said he considers Abdul Sattar Edhi as the real torchbearer of change in Pakistan.

He said there is a message for us in both his life and death. Shehbaz Sharif said that life of Abdul Sattar Edhi taught to love humanity and his death how people love their benefactor. He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was a bright face of Pakistan and he was positive identity of the country in this era of miseries. He said that we all have to make this face brighter and strengthen the identity.

He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi is the name of spirit of service to humanity. He said that there is a need to promote the same spirit in all walks of life including politics, government and administration. The Chief Minister announced that a major road of the provincial metropolis of Punjab will be named after Abdul Sattar Edhi. He said that the whole nation is grieved over the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi.

He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi served the humanity throughout his life and his services for humanity will never be forgotten. He said that in the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi the country has lost its greatest servant to humanity. Earlier on arrival at Karachi Airport, Provincial Minister for Local Government Jam Khan Shoro, Senator Nehal Hashmi, DG Protocol Shakeel Amjad, President Pakistan Muslim League-N Sindh Ismail Raho, Shah Muhammad Shah and other PML-N workers welcomed the Chief Minister.
